PIF member, Groom n Zoom Limited is a one-stop shop for pet owners. Based in London, Groom n Zoom offer a grooming service plus retail shop selling pet products such as animal food, beds, leads, and collars. Business owner Paul Tench, previously accepted card payments, however decided to make the switch to Chip & PIN solutions following a recommendation from The Pet Industry Federation.
In terms of card payments, Groom n Zoom has always seen the benefits in accepting card payments. Over the last couple of years Paul Tench has witnessed a huge shift from cash to card payments. However, due to high costs and poor customer service, Groom n Zoom switched from their previous card payments provider to Chip & PIN Solutions.
Chip & PIN Solutions took the time to explain how the card payment industry operates, and not only saved Groom n Zoom hundreds of pounds but also upgraded their existing solution to enable contactless and mobile payments.
“We made the switch to Chip & PIN Solutions based on their reputation in the payments market place. The rates we had with our existing supplier were too expensive and Chip & PIN Solutions were able to save us money. Unlike our existing supplier, Chip & PIN Solutions’ support is UK based and exceeded expectations.”
Paul Tench, Business Owner, Groom n Zoom
According to Business Owner, Paul Tench, UK businesses should all be accepting card payments, and new research by Expert Market tends to back this opinion. The findings reveal that SMEs that have not embraced this new payment technology could be losing out on over £23,000 profit per year. The findings indicated that cash only businesses needed to adapt to the latest payment technology in order to remain competitive and not miss out on business by not keeping up to date with customer demands.
The UK Card Association also backs these findings and reiterates that this growing trend in card and online payments is only expected to grow. The number of purchases using card has more than doubled in the past 10 years, mainly due to the introduction of contactless payments, online shopping and mobile banking apps. In a decade’s time, it is forecasted that half of all card transactions will be contactless and expected to increase to 3.7 billion transactions by 2026.
Therefore, offering customers greater flexibility in their payment choices will be key to the sustainability for many businesses. Quite simply, limiting payment options to customers will potentially mean the loss of business to direct and indirect competitors. It’s about making the customer’s purchasing journey as easy as possible.
“Groom n Zoom highly recommends Chip & PIN Solutions to fellow PIF members. If you already accept card payments, a rate comparison is well worth the time and effort. Chip & PIN Solutions are a professional company, easy to deal with and quick turn around times.”
